I just saw where The Dallas Morning News on 3/12/2007 discussed a study released by two advocacy groups showing that U.S. fatalities from truck accidents have remained consistent at 100 per week. This week, families of truck crash victims are lobbying Congress and the Bush administration to establish stricter rules. The groups seek to reduce the number of hours truck drivers are allowed to drive without rest and increase the number of safety inspections, among other recommendations.
