On Monday we blogged about Hyperthermia and its Child Victims and detailed some common sense safety tips parents can use in protecting our most precious cargo when we enter and leave a vehicle. Sadly, some people just don’t follow common sense.
The Tulsa World is reporting that authorities have arrested a 61 year old man for complaints of child endangerment, furnishing alcohol to a minor, public intoxication and resisting arrest. The complaints stem around allegations that the 61 year old man
reportedly left a 7-year-old boy in a pickup truck with open bottles of alcohol, authorities said.
Thankfully, security officers at the hotel noticed the 7-year-old boy in the pickup and called police. This young man was fortunate to be alive as the article states he was in the vehicle for almost an hour. The article also states
It was 92 degrees at the time outside, and 94 degrees in the truck
Thankfully this story does not have a tragic ending for the young boy. So many times good citizens do not notice and/or fail to report seeing children alone in a vehicle. This incident should remind us all to be vigilant in protecting our most precious cargo.
