A 5 year-old child is dead and another in the hospital after Oklahoma City Police say a drunk driver plowed into their car that was stopped at an intersection. According to initial reports, the drunk driver was traveling in excess of 60 mph when he plowed into the back of a car sitting at a red light at the I-240 Service Road and Western Avenue in southwest Oklahoma City.

Oklahoma City police said James Opp, 60, slammed his truck into the back of a car sitting at a red light at the I-240 Service Road and Western Avenue in southwest Oklahoma City. The collision forced the car into the intersection causing it to hit another truck that was turning left. The Opp then crashed into a utility pole.
According to multiple reports and information from first responders, the accident was catastrophic. Two children were in the back of the car that was hit while the adults were in the front. The adults were taken via emergency responders to a local hospital. However, the children in the back suffered the brunt of the high impact collision.
The accident killed a 5 year old child and severely injured a 2 year old also in the car. Reports say that both children were in their safety seats when the collision occurred.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of these children and their parents. The unimaginable pain and suffering they are currently experiencing cannot be comprehended by anyone.
