Comments Off

Newsok.com is reporting that two people are dead and one injured after a head-on collision in Pontotoc County. The automobile accident occurred west of Allen Oklahoma which is near Ada Oklahoma according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. According to the article

Dennis George Williams, 59, of Allen and Harlan Dale Triplett, 80, of Moore were drivers of vehicles that crashed about 7:15 p.m. on State Highway

1E, troopers said. Williams’ westbound sport utility vehicle drifted left of center and hit Triplett’s car, rolling the SUV onto its top and sending the car onto the shoulder.

Williams was partially thrown out of the SUV and Triplett was pinned inside the car, the patrol reported. Both died at the scene.

A passenger in Triplett’s car, Asako W. Speaks, 85, of Oklahoma City, was flown to OU Medical Center, troopers said. Her condition was not available this morning.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those lost and we wish the passenger a speedy recovery. While I am not personally familiar with this roadway, I am familiar with many of the two lane narrow shouldered roads present in our rural communities. Extra precaution must be taken on these roads given there are rarely any median dividers and the shoulders are narrow. In other words the room for error is small.
