In my continued review of “Traffic Safety Facts 2005” compiled by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (“NHTSA”) I came across a truly humbling fact. According to the NHTSA:
Thirty-nine percent of fatal crashes involved alcohol. For fatal crashes occurring from midnight to 3 a.m. and 75 percent involved alcohol.
Now I may be a small town Oklahoma country boy, but the words of my father echo in my ears. Nothing good occurs after midnight. Obviously this is true. As a parent, we should strictly enforce curfews of our children to ensure their safety. The facts are undisputable. If you allow your teen out past midnight, the chances of them being involved in a fatal car wreck increases dramatically.

My grandfather used to say that every hour you slept before midnight was worth two, they both knew what they were talking about, it looks like.
