Man Charged With First-Degree Manslaughter for Involvement in Oklahoma Crash

According to the Tulsa World, an 18-year-old man was charged with 2 counts of first-degree manslaughter when his vehicle struck another around 5 a.m. on June 17, killing a 21-year-old man and his 8-month-old son. The crash occurred on Oklahoma 66 near Vedigris.

He is also being charged with leaving the scene of an accident. Police reported that he was involved in one crash before he drove off and turned east into the westbound lanes of Oklahoma 66 near Verdigris.

According to authorities, the man admitted that he drank alcohol hours before the collision. Authorities reported that the man was unsteady on his feet, had bloodshot, glassy eyes, and smelled of alcohol.

This tragic accident serves as a grim reminder that there are no winners when someone drinks and drives. This accident left two individuals dead with a lot of life in front of them. While the 18-year-old survived, he now has to face the serious consequences of his actions. In Oklahoma, a first-degree manslaughter conviction carries a sentence of a minimum of 4 years and a maximum of life in prison.

My son and grandson were killed in this accident.
I cannot even begin to describe the pain for everyone. Especially my son’s wife who, is now a grieving widow at 21 yrs old, lost her husband and 8 month old son.

I pray for all involved not only our families’ loss but because this 18 year old will spend the rest of his life knowing he took two innocent lives and ruined so many more.
